Cortical Consolidation is a calculation software for the design of slope reinforcement systems according to NTC 2018.
The program designs metallic meshes anchored to unstable soil layers through bar anchors, verifying the system stability according to the partial coefficients required by Italian regulations.
Unlike the conventional approach, this software reverses the typical workflow: the designer specifies a desired safety factor (FS_des) and the program calculates the traction force required in each anchor to achieve it.
The software analyzes the stability of a soil volume with:
- Planimetric area corresponding to the influence zone of a single anchor
- Thickness S perpendicular to the sliding surface
- Sliding hypothesized at the contact between the overburden and the underlying substrate
Raster configurations:
- Rectangular raster
- Rhomboidal raster
Formula: V = ix × iy × S [m³]
The software evaluates stability considering:
- Seismic actions (pseudo-static approach according to NTC 2018)
- Seepage flow parallel to the slope (variable saturation coefficient m)
- Most unfavorable conditions for verification
The coefficient m varies from 0 (no water table) to 1 (water table at ground level), allowing to consider different hydrogeological conditions.
Once the anchor traction force is determined, the program performs 6 verifications using NTC 2018 partial coefficients:
- Bar tension - Rf > Ed
- Bar shear - Tf > Td
- Bar/mortar slip - Rbm > Ed
- Bulb/soil slip - Rbulb > Ed
- Net punching - Rpunz > Ed
- Net tension - Rtr > Td/ix
All verifications confirm that the design loads (E_d) remain below the corresponding resistances (R_d).
